A screen changer is a manual or automatic switching device that incorporates one or more filter screens. It is used to filter out foreign particles and impurities as the molten polymer melt flows through the screens.

The filter screens are supported by an alloy perforated plate mounted on a plate-type or column-type carrier. This carrier can be moved to switch between an operational position within the system and an offline non-operational position. Screen changers can be installed on any new or existing extruder, melt pump, reactor, or other extrusion production line. They can be used to filter any type of polymer, rubber, or ceramic melt. 3. Polymer (plastic and rubber) molding production lines, including film blowing, cast film, sheet, pipe, profile, plastic recycling, pelletizing, filament drawing, underwater pelletizing, masterbatch pelletizing, and extrusion compounding lines.

4. Suitable for various granulators, extruders, film blowers, filament drawers, sheet extruders, and pipe extruders.

Different screen changers are applied to meet diverse operational and process requirements. Manual or low-speed screen changers require production lines to halt briefly for filter changes, whereas high-speed screen changers and specialized designs enable changeovers without stopping production or by reducing extrusion speed. Low-cost screen changers may generate defective scrap during changes, while non-stop changers minimize scrap but require higher initial investment.
