Based on the principle of positive displacement, they achieve precise and stable pressure control: a pair of precision-meshed gears inside the pump ensures a fixed volume of extruded melt with each rotation. By locking the rotational speed, a constant flow rate is maintained, unaffected by downstream resistance, thereby stabilizing pressure at its source. Once installed, pressure fluctuations on the production line can be controlled within ±0.5%, with pressure stabilization accuracy more than ten times that of standard extruders.

Melt pumps are not standard equipment on all production lines, but they are indispensable in high-precision manufacturing scenarios: in film extrusion and synthetic fiber spinning, even minor pressure fluctuations can lead to excessive film thickness or uneven fiber fineness; in sheet and plate production, thickness inconsistencies are common; and in pelletizing lines, issues such as inconsistent particle size and stringing or tailing may occur. Furthermore, in complex operating conditions such as polymer discharge and the addition of fillers to recycled material, where extruder discharge stability is poor, the improvement achieved by installing a melt pump is particularly significant.

Industry test data shows that melt pumps significantly improve quality and efficiency: after installation, pressure fluctuations drop from ±10%–15% to ±0.5%–1%, the yield rate of film and sheet production lines increases by 5%–15%, production line speeds can be increased by 5%–10%, and waste is significantly reduced. Additionally, by sharing the pressure-building load, the melt pump allows the extruder to operate under low backpressure, effectively reducing wear on the screw and barrel and extending the equipment’s service life.
